DC to Blue Ridge Cycling Tour

November 5-9, 2025

DC to Blue Ridge is a 4-night cycling trip featuring 4 full days of soaking up true Americana riding past landmarks including the U.S. Capitol and the Washington Monument. Roll along the incredibly scenic Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia with uninterrupted views of the Appalachian mountains.

Along the way you will enjoy professional ride support from experienced guides, meals, accommodations, and in-tour transportation. World record setting cyclist and former champion professional triathlete, Andrew Starykowicz, will lead you on some of his favorite routes that proved to be key ingredients in his cycling and triathlon success.

A Rewarding Itinerary

Your cycling adventure begins with transfer to the included accommodations at a Washington, D.C. hotel on Wednesday, November 5. If you’re flying, we will pick you up at Reagan National Airport (DCA) and transfer you to the hotel. If you’re driving, we’ll meet you in Front Royal, Virginia and transfer you to the hotel.

We kick things off with a 12-mile morning ride on Thursday, November 6. We’ll circumnavigate several points of interest in the nation’s Capitol. This includes riding past the United States Capitol campus and down Memorial Mall before pausing for a photo op in front on the Washington Monument. Next, roll along the reflecting pond over to the Lincoln Memorial and then past the Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon. We arrive back at the hotel for breakfast before rolling onto the paved Washington and Old Dominion Rail bed. The railroad bed turns into rolling open country roads. We end today at the base and foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

“To start off a trip by pedaling past the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial, I thought to myself it can’t get any better, but it did.”
— Cody S.

Friday, November 7 begins with a few quiet miles before we roll onto the Skyline Drive. The road pitches up with a series of long, steady climbs. Much of this 70-mile day is spent pedaling along the ridgeline enjoying the serene beauty of the Appalachian skyline.  We complete the day with a quick descent down to a secluded mountain lodge.

We begin Saturday with an out of the gate climb up to Skyline Drive as we soak in the morning sun. We continue to roll south while climbing and descending, following the ridgeline. When Skyline Drive ends, the next adventure of the Blue Ridge Parkway begins. Life on the parkway really has only two skill sets: climbing and descending. Our day ends with a stretch of the legs exploring historic Lexington, Virginia, the home of Stonewall Jackson.

Our final day of cycling takes place on Sunday, November 9 beginning with a morning climb back up to the Blue Ridge Parkway followed by a long plunge down to the James River, the lowest point on the parkway.  This is followed by one of the longest climbs on the parkway, ascending to Apple Orchard Mountain, the highest point on the parkway in Virginia. This is followed by another long, steady descent into downtown Roanoke, Virginia. Freshen up with a shower and get a bite to eat while bikes get packed before heading to the Roanoke airport or back to Front Royal, Virginia.
