Meet Your Camp Coaches
RaceQuest has collaborated with Andrew Starykowicz and John Kenny to host triathlon training camps since 2014. While Andrew and John have both achieved enormous individual success throughout their professional careers, they have one mission for this camp: to empower and equip you to improve as an athlete. You belong here, no matter your current triathlon experience or ability.
ANDREW STARYKOWICZ
“Starky” hails from Chicago, Illinois and is probably best known in triathlon for his strong swim and world record smashing bike splits. Andrew holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University where he played on the water polo team. He also achieved All-American status in swimming and triathlon while in college. He became a professional triathlete in 2006 and went on to win and podium numerous Ironman, 70.3, Lifetime Triathlon Series, Rev3, CLASH, and ITU/WTS events. He was the first American to break 8-hours in a full Ironman and in 2019 was unanimously voted the greatest cyclist in triathlon history. Andrew has trained extensively in the mountains of North Georgia and the surrounding area for years to hone his skills to excel as a top professional triathlete. He is the author of the book, For Swimmers 365 Main Sets.
JOHN KENNY
John comes from a competitive swimming and running background. A Pennsylvania state champion in high school swimming and all-district in cross country, John went on to run for one year in college, but continued to swim for all 4 years at Cornell University. At Cornell, he was 4-times named hardest worker and 1-time MVP of the swim team.
During his college days and beyond, John found his niche in the sport of open water swimming. John is a 5-time US National champion in distances ranging from 10K up to 25K. He is also a 7-time National team member and has competed at a wide variety of races including Nationals, Olympic trials, Pan Ams, Pan Pacs, World Cups, and World Championships. He represented the USA in the 25K at the World Championships in 2008. There were many swimmers out there with more raw speed in the pool, but very few could match John’s experience, endurance, tactics, and innate sense of finding the fastest, most efficient way to finish an open water race. From short races to marathons, flat lake swims to rough ocean or turbulent river swims, John Kenny is the most experienced open water swimmer in the United States, if not the world. Other coaches in the triathlon realm claiming to be “open water experts” do not come close.
John is the founder of French Creek Racing and French Creek Endurance, and makes his home in Pennsylvania.
